Carl Patrick’s Solar Consulting has saved us a lot of money and given us a great system without hassles along the way. We have a serious problem with tree shade over our roof, which meant that a ‘normal’ residential system would be unsuitable. Without Carl we would have installed a very poorly performing system and wasted our money. The cost of his consulting was small compared to the money we saved, and the responsibility he took on, to get it right for us. That cost was less than 5% of the expenditure on the conversion.
Carl’s experience on major industrial and commercial jobs, as well as residential, made the difference. This meant he was competent to design a large array and he did on-site inspection, solar data analysis and consultation before completing the design. The custom design for our roof used micro inverters which got around our shade problem. He also had the regulatory knowledge to apply for and to get approved a system much larger than the standard household system. He got approval from our grid operator for unlimited export.
Carl made the conversion of our house to solar easy. He gave advice and sorted out technical questions as we replaced the existing gas hot water, central heating and cooktop with electric equipment of suitable capacity and design. He helped with selection of a contractor for the install. That contractor did a great job under Carl’s supervision. He communicates quickly and is very generous with his advice and in getting us prepared for the conversion to a solar house. He gave us the confidence to make all of the many decisions about appropriate and economic equipment.
We recommend Carl Patrick wholeheartedly to anyone wanting a solar powered residence with equipment that exactly meets their needs and budget, and most efficiently uses their solar exposure.

Many thanks to you and your busy team for my system. It is so neat, works well so far, and it’s amazing that I can see how it’s going online. While the engineering aspect is not something that I’ll be able to understand in any depth, seeing the results of the work and watching how much power from the grid is no longer being used is great. Seeing the batteries store and supply and how the balance functions is fascinating.

Solar Consulting Pty Ltd is a privately owned family business with Managing Directors Carl and Olivia Patrick. Carl has actively worked in the industry both in a design and installation capacity as sole trader, employee and company director continuously since 2005. Carl is a fully qualified solar designer and installer with the Clean Energy Council and qualified Photovoltaic Engineer. Solar Consulting began as a sole trading entity in 2010 and was restructured in 2018 as a company to service NSW and VIC. We look forward to providing the right advice and solution for your energy needs.
Following completion of a Bachelor of Engineering in Photovoltaics and Solar Energy (Hons Class 1) in 2007 Carl shortly thereafter established a small solar design and installation business on the South Coast, NSW. This business quickly expanded into other renewable energy markets including micro wind, micro hydro and energy efficiency. While on the South Coast Carl secured multiple contracts with NSW National Parks for installation, service and maintenance of a number of their off grid solar sites and remote lighthouses in Southern NSW.
Following a move to the Lake Macquarie region in 2012, Solar Consulting has been operating ever since, continuing to serve happy solar customers throughout NSW & VIC Australia.
